Changing Habits story… why they source and supply Rapadura Sugar
For many years, Cyndi has recommended including natural sugar as part of a healthy diet. This organic Rapadura Sugar is unrefined cane sugar sourced from the Valle region in Western Columbia. It is pressed and naturally dried at low temperatures to maintain nutritional properties and there is no other processing involved, unlike other sugars that can be highly processed, refined and bleached.

Rapadura sugar can be used cup for cup as an alternative to sugar in all your baking and cooking.

This can be adjusted to your tastebuds as rapadura has a rich caramel flavour you may find you are able to use less sugar.

If you are unused to the grainy texture of Rapadura, it can be ground in the Thermomix (or a powerful blender) to a fine powder to help it dissolve better.

Rapadura syrup – know as Maleo:
Maleo syrup is made by combining filtered water with Changing Habits Rapadura Sugar. It is heated on a very low temperature so as not to destroy any of the nutrition. Use this syrup in baking, smoothies and in raw desserts.
Use 2 cups of Rapadura sugar to 1 cup of water – dissolve in a saucepan on low heat or in Thermomix for 5 minutes at 50 degrees C. Pour into glass jar and store in fridge.

In Colombia, Rapadura is not only used as a sweetener for cooking and baking, it is also dissolved in water and ice is added along with a squeeze of lemon then served as an energy boosting summer drink. On cold nights, the same recipe applies using hot water.

Catherine completed the Functional Nutrition course through The Nutrition Academy, the Changing Habits education program. This is co-ordinated by Cyndi O’Meara, the founder of Changing Habits. After being shown first-hand, the depths and passion Cyndi puts into every ingredient and process behind each product, this was one of the first brands we brought on board.

We have total trust in everything that Cyndi stands for and love the Changing Habits’ mission – to be the most authentic, innovative and impactful whole food company.
Each moment of Cyndi’s journey, that she so gorgeously shares, brings light to the scary truths of the industry. We admire her level of commitment to facilitate change so that we can devour delicious and healthy whole foods
